At NYASHEP, we are keenly aware that the Kenyan youth of today become the leaders of tomorrow.
Sadly, too many of them grow up in extreme poverty and experience profound hardship and loss from an early age. Many are orphans who have lost both parents, or they are from single parent households where they must shoulder adult responsibilities from a very young age. Some suffer extreme emotional, physical, and sexual abuse.
Therefore, it is our mission to empower Kenyan kids with the necessary education, skills, well-being, and mindset to achieve their highest potential.
WHAT WE DO
We help vulnerable and disadvantaged Kenyan youth improve their lives through access to quality education, nature-based mental health support, and caring mentorship and community.
Through a thriving community partnership program that puts community participation at the center of all we do, we create and maintain successful programs that benefit Kenyan kids in a holistic manner.
We support our students in two ways:
through individual student sponsorship and our unique, life-changing Outback Program.
THE OUTBACK PROGRAM
Our students come from extremely stressful environments, which erode their emotional, mental, and physical development. Our Outback Program gives them a chance to decompress, breathe, experience safe connection with others, receive positive feedback, and learn skills that empower them to grow stronger and more resilient far into the future.
